Rex Willis toured Australia and New Zealand with the Lions in 1950, making 13 appearances and scoring one try in the 30-0 triumph over Waikato, Thames Valley and King Country.

Willis, who had made his international debut for Wales against England at Twickenham earlier that year, ultimately appeared in three Tests for the Lions on that 1950 Tour – featuring once against the All Blacks and twice against the Wallabies.

The scrum-half demonstrated his unquestionable toughness by playing the last half-hour of Wales’ 1952 Five Nations match against Scotland with his jaw broken in several places and won 21 caps for his country during a five-year international career.
