Equally capable at centre or wing, Rhys Gabe was one of the chief attacking threats for The British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia and New Zealand in 1904.

In total Gabe made 16 appearances in the famous jersey, scoring five tries with his most notable effort coming in the third Test win over the Wallabies.

The Lions won the Test series against Australia 3-0 but lost 1-0 to New Zealand, Gabe appearing in all four Test matches.

Operating mainly at centre, the Llangennech-born star won 24 caps for Wales from his debut against Ireland in 1901.

His 24 caps for Wales included the famous 1905 victory against New Zealand, and he captained Wales in the 1907 match against Ireland and finished with 11 Wales tries.
