New Zealand born Riki Flutey became the first man to play for and against The British & Irish Lions when he was selected by Ian McGeechan for the third Test against South Africa in 2009.

The inside centre played for the Wellington Hurricanes against the Lions on their tour to New Zealand in 2005. He has also represented the New Zealand Maori.

Flutey qualified to play for England on the grounds of residency, having arrived to the UK in 2005 to sign for London Irish.

He featured in five warm-up matches in South Africa, making three starts, before being selected by McGeechan to start the final Test and brilliantly assisted Shane Williams' second try in the famous victory.
