An English back-row, Roger Wakefield toured Argentina with The British & Irish Lions in 1927, after earning a Blue playing for Cambridge University.
However, Wakefield was one of only two players on the Tour that did not feature in any of the four Test matches.
Despite his selection for the Lions, Wakefield did not represent England, unlike his brother Wavell who captained the Red Rose.
Wakefield was a surveyor by trade and directed the modernisation of the Sudan Survey Department. He died in July 1986, aged 80.
