English winger Roy Leyland featured in five games of the 1938 Lions Tour to South Africa and scored tries against Western Transvaal and Transvaal.
Both games were won and the pace and ingenuity of Leyland alongside the likes of Bill Clement and Elvet Jones saw the Lions gain plenty of fans throughout the country.
Leyland picked up three England caps during the 1935 Five Nations, winning one, losing one and drawing against Wales at Twickenham.
