Policeman Russell Taylor was a Welsh flanker who could kick at goal making him an invaluable player for The British & Irish Lions on their 1938 Tour to South Africa.
With first choice kicker Vivian Jenkins forced to withdraw, Taylor took on the kicking responsibilities and ended the Tour as the highest points scorer with four tries, seven conversions and nine penalties.
He started in two Tests, the 26-12 defeat in the first Test at Ellis Park and the second Test 19-3 defeat, and successfully kicked one penalty.
Taylor made five appearances for Wales, scoring a try in the 1938 Five Nations against Ireland in Belfast.
