Lancastrian Sam Williams was selected by Arthur Shrewsbury and Alfred Shaw to go on the first ever British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia and New Zealand.
The forward was captain of Salford when he was selected for the Tour, where he scored eight tries in 32 games.
He was also selected for the North v South rugby match – becoming the first ever player from Salford to get the nod, while he also played county rugby for Lancashire.
