Towering lock Scott Murray got his taste of Lions action when he earned a call-up from coach Graham Henry for the 2001 Tour of Australia.
The Scot pulled on the famous red jersey five times on that Tour, firstly in the 83-6 triumph over Queensland Presidents XV and for the final time in the dramatic 30-28 midweek victory against the Brumbies but failed to crack the Test team.
Murray won 87 caps for Scotland between 1997 and 2007, captaining them on five occasions and playing at three separate World Cups.
He won Scotland player of the season three times, including the two seasons immediately following that 2001 Lions Tour, and was his country’s most-capped player until being surpassed by Chris Paterson.
