Born in England to an Irish father and an English mother, Simon Easterby played most of his club rugby in Wales for Scarlets.
So with that fine mix of the home nations in his bloodline it is perhaps no surprise he took to the Lions as well as he did.
Easterby’s sole Tour came in 2005 to New Zealand when he was called up as an injury replacement for Lawrence Dallaglio after the England No.8 fractured his ankle in the first game.
The Irish back-row forward so impressed Sir Clive Woodward and the coaching staff during the Tour that he would go on to make five appearances and force his way into the Test side.
Easterby – who won 65 caps for Ireland – started the second and third Tests and scored a try in the second Test defeat in Wellington.
