Simon Taylor made one appearance for the Lions during the 2001 Tour to Australia, scoring a try against Western Australia.
However, a knee injury ended his Tour and he returned to Scotland to pass the final exams of his law degree at Edinburgh University.
And injury struck again in 2005 when Taylor – one of three Scots selected to Tour New Zealand – tore a hamstring and did not get to play a single game.
The back-row forward – who played club rugby for Bath, Saracens and Stade Français - made his debut for Scotland against the USA in November 2000 and went on to make 66 appearances over the next nine years.
