Stan Hodgson was into his mid-30s when he was selected for the 1962 Tour to South Africa but suffered a broken leg on the first match of the tour.
The English hooker played no further part in South Africa but the Lions did go on to win the game 38-9.
Hodgson won his first England cap at the age of 32, a 1960 Five Nations match against Wales at Twickenham and went on to make 11 appearances for his country.
After his international career, he continued to play rugby competitively, despite a second broken leg in his 50s, until he was 60.
