Caerphilly-born Steve Fenwick was a natural in the Test arena – within five minutes of his Wales debut in 1975 he had scored his first international try, going on to collect nine points in the victory over France.
For the rest of the decade he was a mainstay in a successful Wales team, usually lining up alongside 1980 Lion Ray Gravell in the centres.
But it was in 1977 that Fenwick personally received the call from the Lions and he was a virtual ever-present on Tour in New Zealand.
Fenwick, who was also an accomplished goal-kicker, started all four Tests and appeared 12 times in total including a try-scoring display against Manawatu/Horowhenua.
He finished his rugby union career in 1981 with 31 caps to his name before a brief spell in rugby league with Cardiff City Blue Dragons.
