The 1977 Tour for the Lions may have ended in disappointment but Terry Cobner was an integral part of a pack which showed New Zealand a thing or two about forwards play.
Cobner was given the honour of being pack leader for the 1977 Tour and described the way he helped shape the hugely impressive group as one of his greatest achievements.
The flanker believes it was “easily” the greatest pack he ever played with and with the likes of Fran Cotton, Peter Wheeler, Graham Price, Bill Beaumont, Gordon Brown and Willie Duggan alongside him, it is hard to argue.
Cobner played in three of the four Tests and 11 games in total, scoring a double in the opening match with Wairarapa Bush and adding another against Wellington.
The Welshman earned 19 caps for his country, collecting two Grand Slams – in 1976 and 1978 – in the process.
