A suitable predecessor in standing to the great Welsh full-back JPR Williams, Terry Davies’ kick-dominated style differed markedly from Williams, but he is no-less rugby royalty in Wales.
Davies famously struck the woodwork with a potentially match-winning penalty during a Test with England in 1958, something which so aggrieved a group of Welsh fans, they returned to cut out the offending area of post.
The Swansea man suffered with a leg injury on the 1959 British & Irish Lions Tour, but still managed to start two Tests, play 18 times and score a try against New South Wales Country.
