England prop Tim Payne was called into The British & Irish Lions squad just days before the first Test against South Africa in 2009, following injury to Andrew Sheridan.
Payne played against the Emerging Springboks in the match between the first and second Test which finished 13-13.
He was not included, however, in the 22-man squad for any of the three clashes with the Springboks.
The front row played his club rugby for Coventry, Bristol, Cardiff and Wasps, where he won three league titles and twice won European honours.
Payne won 22 England caps and retired in 2013 with a neck injury.
