Tim Rodber played six matches during the 1997 Tour to South Africa, starting the first two Tests as the Lions secured an historic series win over the Springboks.
Rodber was one of the stars of the Tour - making the most of an injury to Scott Quinnell to firmly take hold of the No.8 jersey and he even skipper the Lions in their mid-week clash with Mpumalanga.
Rodber was a captain in the Green Howards infantry regiment of the British Army and remained so even after rugby turned professional.
He made his debut for England in the 25-7 victory over Scotland in the 1992 Championship, the first of 44 caps. A one club man, he was part of the Northampton Saints team that beat Munster in the 2000 Heineken Cup final.
