Nottingham-born Tom Kent toured with The British & Irish Lions in 1888 to Australia and New Zealand as coaches Arthur Shrewsbury and Alfred Shaw picked the first ever Lions squad.
Kent played the majority of his first-class rugby for Salford, which is where he was when selected for the Lions.
Kent played 28 matches on Tour, scoring five tries and a single conversion.
Three years later, Kent was selected to play for England – and he went on to win six caps, playing in all three of England’s matches in 1892 where they won the Triple Crown and did not concede a single point.
