Tony Stanger made one appearance for the Lions during the 1997 tour when the Scottish winger was selected for the match with Northern Free State.

Stanger made his debut just 36 hours after being seconded from the Scotland squad which was also touring South Africa after injuries to Leicester centre Will Greenwood and Welsh winger Ieuan Evans ruled them out of further contention.

He is famous for scoring the winning try in the 1990 Championship clash against England, which sealed Scotland's third Grand Slam.

He made 52 appearances for Scotland and scored 106 points.
