Born in South Africa, Dyson Wilson moved to England aged eight and became a Red Rose international in 1953.
Nicknamed ‘Tug’, Wilson was selected for the Lions Tour back to his native Republic in 1955 while also working for the
Metropolitan Police.
On that Tour the flanker made 15 appearances and scored three tries but failed to crack the Test side.
He returned to South Africa for a spell after his playing career ended but in the end he settled back in the UK in Cornwall where he was a farmer and a talented sailor – hence the nickname.
