Flying wing Ugo Monye was the Lions top try scorer of the 2009 Tour to South Africa, touching down five times.

After a double against Golden Lions, he followed up with tries against Western Province and Southern Kings ahead of the first Test.

Monye thought he had scored against South Africa when he crossed the line in that first clash, but Jean de Villiers got his hand under the ball to deny him.

The Londoner lost his place for the second Test but was recalled for the final match of the series, this time starting on the right wing. He scored the Lions third try of the match following a 70-yard interception.

Monye, who played for Harlequins throughout his career, announced his retirement from rugby in March 2015.
