A “Singing Lion” in 1950, Vic Roberts was neither the biggest nor the strongest flanker of his era, but he was exceptionally skilful, won 16 England caps and was a Cornwall stalwart as well as touring with The British & Irish Lions.

Roberts scored seven tries in 12 matches for the Lions, four of which came against Ceylon and the other three against Wanganui, West Coast and South Canterbury.

A customs officer, his work took him throughout the UK and he played for Harlequins, Swansea and Penryn during his club career.

Roberts also served as vice president of the Barbarians after retiring from playing.
