Born in Bedminster, Somerset, Walter Huntingford was called upon to represent the Lions on the 1910 Tour to Argentina.
Despite playing for the United Services, Blackheath and Surrey, this was a step into the unknown for Huntingford who had never previously played international rugby.
However the forward took to it with ease, and earned a starting place in his team’s sole international match of the Tour against Argentina on June 12.
A close first half saw the tourists lead just 5-3 at the break but Huntingford and co pulled away in the second to win 28-3.
They would then go on to round off the Tour with a 41-10 win over Argentinos Nativos.
