From Gloucester, England forward Walter Jackson toured with the Lions in 1891 in South Africa.
He appeared in five matches on the Tour, as the Lions returned home unbeaten – one of only two occasions that they have achieved this feat.
In 1894 he made his one and only international appearance, playing on the wing for England against Scotland.
He then moved to Halifax and switched to rugby league at the age of 25.
