Welshman Willie Thomas toured with The British & Irish Lions to Australia and New Zealand in 1888 becoming one of the first players to wear the fabled red jersey.
Thomas attended Cambridge University, but his rugby career goes back even further as he was selected for a Home Nations match against Scotland in 1885.
He went onto win 11 caps, including Wales’ first ever win against Scotland in 1888. His form saw him selected for the Lions Tour.
While on Tour with the Lions the forward played 28 times and scored two tries.
