Stuart Hogg had toured twice with The British & Irish Lions by the age of 25 – a fantastic achievement for a man mature beyond his years.

After heading to Australia as the youngest player on Tour in 2013, he went to New Zealand four years later with his sights set on securing the Test full back jersey after some stellar displays for Scotland.

But his trip to the Land of the Long White Cloud was ended before the Test series against the All Blacks could get underway – he suffered a facial injury when he accidentally collided with Conor Murray in the third match of the Tour against the Crusaders.

The bone fracture ended Hogg’s Tour prematurely and the Scotland full back was distraught to be heading home prior to the Test series which was drawn 1-1.

Before that the Scot had started the Tour opener against the New Zealand Provincial Barbarians and was looking to claim the No 15 jersey.

That came after his 2013 Tour with the Lions to Australia when, despite being the youngest man on Tour, he made five appearances in the famous red jersey.

That included four starts, one of which was at fly half against Combined NSW Queensland Country, crossing for a try in that game and also kicking goals against both the Brumbies and Rebels.
