Exeter Chiefs’ new Sandy Park Stadium will host two games during this season’s Barclays Churchill Cup tournament.

The six-team event, won last year by New Zealand Maori, takes place in England for the first time between May 18 and June 2.

While Twickenham will stage finals day, pool matches have been scheduled for Exeter, Stockport, Northampton and Henley.

England Saxons kick off the competition against the USA – England’s opening World Cup opponents in September – at Sale Sharks’ Edgeley Park ground, with Exeter hosting both of Ireland A’s fixtures against Canada and New Zealand Maori.

Exeter chief executive Tony Rowe said: "We were delighted when we were awarded the England Saxons match against Italy A earlier this month – and we were very pleased with the organisation and smooth running of Sandy Park stadium on the night.

"It clearly demonstrated we have the ability to accommodate big matches and big crowds."

2007 Barclays Churchill Cup schedule: May 18, England Saxons v USA (Stockport, 1945); May 19, Ireland A v Canada (Exeter, 2000); May 23, Scotland A v USA (Henley, 1800); May 25, New Zealand Maori v Canada (Northampton, 2000); May 28, England Saxons v Scotland A (Twickenham, 1500); May 29, New Zealand Maori v Ireland A (Exeter, 2000); June 2, finals day (Twickenham).
