Lions Australia Tour 2013

Injury update from Dr James Robson after the third and final test.

On the injuries from the Third Test
Joe Worsley – needed to go to hospital for a scan to his face. There was concern that he may have had an undisplaced fracture but scans are clear.

Matthew Rees – another victim of concussion. He had become slightly confused and aggressive towards us and that is a sign of concussion but he was well last night and this morning.

Riki Flutey – Took a bang to his shoulder and will need further assessment today on the AC joint but hopefully it will be nothing untoward

Martyn Williams – Took a stinger to his shoulder in the game.

On the Tour overall from a medical perspective
Overall brings the total to 10 people who are not able to continue the tour and that is very sad. We started with the proposition that nobody would come on tour that wasn’t fit and I hope that is the way forward. This tour has been incredibly physical and most of the accidents and injuries were largely due to physical contact both on and off the pitch.
