FirstCape on board for Australia

FirstCape Wines have renewed their sponsorship of the British & Irish Lions by backing the 2013 tour to Australia.

Sir Ian McGeechan, FirstCape Wines brand ambassador, was on hand to help announce the new deal at Bath University, which builds on the company’s relationship with the Lions in South Africa in 2009.

Commenting on the sponsorship, joint Director Steve Rosser said: “We enjoyed an excellent partnership with the Lions on their tour to South Africa. It proved a huge success and saw FirstCape rise from the 28th to the 4th largest selling wine brand during the course of the sponsorship.

“We are looking forward to working with the Lions again in Australia in 2013 and our focus will now be on FirstCape’s new Australian range. The build towards the 2013 tour will be full of brand activity.”

John Feehan, CEO of the British & Irish Lions, commented: “We are delighted to renew our relationship with FirstCape Wines, one of the UK’s premier wine brands. They were fantastic partners in 2009 and we are looking forward to working with them in the build up to and on the 2013 Tour to Australia'.

Sir Ian McGeechan added: “Lions tours are tough and challenging, especially in Australia. The Lions and FirstCape fans are in for an eventful journey over the next three years.

“I have seen the fantastic plans FirstCape have for their Australian range and it promises to be an exciting build up to the Tour. FirstCape Australia is already the 7th largest Australian grocery wine brand.”
