Red is the Colour

Sam Warburton’s British & Irish Lions side will be wearing the famous red jersey for the 71st time tonight and the 2013 skipper is urging all Lions fans to turn the Etihad Stadium into another ‘Sea of Red’.

The Lions camp have designated the second Test as ‘Wear Red Day’ and all Lions fans are urged to don a red top, red hair, red trousers or red anything. There was plenty of it at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane last weekend, but the players want to see even more in Melbourne.

And don’t forget that earlier in the week the Etihad Stadium chief executive, Paul Sergeant, set the Lions fans the challenge of raising the stadium roof with their singing.

Lions’ tour manager Andy Irvine has asked the fans to come together at the end of the Australian national anthem and pick a song to sing before kick-off. It will be the last chance for the fans to give Warburton’s men a final boost in their bid to end 16 years of waiting for a test series victory.
