Twelvetrees more confident than ever

A late call-up to the British & Irish Lions this summer, Billy Twelvetrees admits his experiences in 2013 have left him more confident on the pitch.

The 24-year-old pulled on the famous red jersey for the first time this summer when he played against the Brumbies and Melbourne Rebels during the Lions victorious tour Down Under.

It came after he was flown in to add reinforcements to the midfield, cutting short his tour to Argentina with England.

The centre only made his England debut during this year’s Six Nations but with eight caps now to his name, and a host of injuries in the position, the Gloucester man believes he is capable of stepping up again to the big stage.

“I’m more of a confident player, more of a knowledgeable player and I think I can apply more on the pitch,” he said.

“It’s about applying that on the game because your perception changes week in, week out and all those experiences help me.

“I believe I’m getting better and better every week. I was delighted to get my chance in the autumn and I played to the best of my ability and I hope that I get that chance again.”
