Gerry ‘Ginger’ McLoughlin was a former prop went on the 1983 British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand.
It was the first time the Lions had toured New Zealand since 1977, although they were unable to celebrate a victory as the hosts won the Test series 4-0.
McLoughlin, however, personally only tasted victory as he played in two games – a 25-19 win over Hawkes Bay and 40-13 success against Waikato.
He also starred in Munster's famous victory over a visiting All Blacks team in 1978, while four years later he helped Ireland to the Triple Crown.
