Watson bags hat-trick

Bath bound Luke Watson scored a hat-trick of tries to steer Western Province to a 48-7 Currie Cup win over the Leopards.

The ex-Springbok No 8, and WP skipper, bagged three of his side’s seven tries as they stayed in third place on the Currie Cup log.

The current leaders are the Griquas, who traveled to Coca Cola Park and beat the Lions 23-19 on Friday night to remain unbeaten at the top of the table.

It was the Griquas who provided many of the players to the Royal XV that gave Paul O’Connell’s British & Irish Lions side such a stiff test in their opening game of their tour this summer in Phokeng.
