Corbisiero hungry for more silverware

British and Irish Lions prop Alex Corbisiero says he wants to go one better with Northampton Saints in the new season by targeting more European success.

Saints lifted both the Premiership and European Challenge Cup trophies this season, but with the club back among the Europe’s elite in the Rugby Champions Cup, Corbisiero has his eye on more silverware.

And Corbisiero, who made five Lions appearances in Australia and scored a try in the third Test victory, says lifting the Premiership title makes him hungrier for the upcoming season.

“Being champions is a new position for us to be in but the culture we have means there's no chance of complacency or taking our foot off the pedal,” Corbisiero told the Saints’ official website.

“It was great to win a first championship but we can’t afford to let off if we want to build on that success.

“It's such a competitive league – there are so many teams that have a realistic chance of winning it.

“After winning the Premiership and the Challenge Cup last year, we want to win the Champions Cup and trying to get our name on that trophy as well as defending our league title is going to drive everyone.

“It should be an exciting year for the club.”
