Joe takes tally to seven

Joe Worsley took the number of Lions tourists in the England matchday 22 to seven after he was recalled to the squad for Saturday’s clash with Argentina.

Worsley, who toured South Africa with the Lions this summer and started the stunning third Test victory over the Springboks in Johannesburg, has been named on the bench after missing England’s 18-9 defeat to Australia.

The London Wasps back row has struggled with injury since returning from Lions duty and has only played twice for Wasps in recent weeks.

But former Lions skipper and now England team manager Martin Johnson has seen enough from the tough-tackling World Cup winner to reward him with a chance of winning his 51st England cap against the Pumas at Twickenham.

While Worsley is named among the replacements for the second of England’s three autumn internationals, fellow 2009 Lions Ugo Monye, Tom Croft and Tim Payne all make the starting XV, as do 2005 tourists Mark Cueto and Lewis Moody and double Lions tourist Jonny Wilkinson.

Injury has forced Johnson to replace Bath prop David Wilson with club colleague Duncan Bell, while impressive performances from the replacements bench last time out have seen hooker Dylan Hartley, No8 James Haskell and scrum-half Paul Hodgson all promoted to the starting line up.

Uncapped Gloucester prop Paul Doran Jones joins Worsley on the bench just six months after signing for Gloucester from then National One side London Welsh.

England vs Argentina, Saturday, November 14, Twickenham, kick-off 2.30pm

England: 15 Ugo Monye, 14 Mark Cueto, 13 Danny Hipkiss, 12 Shane Geraghty, 11 Matt Banahan, 10 Jonny Wilkinson, 9 Paul Hodgson, 8 James Haskell, 7 Lewis Moody, 6 Tom Croft, 5 Steve Borthwick (c), 4 Louis Deacon, 3 Duncan Bell, 2 Dylan Hartley, 1 Tim Payne

Replacements: 16 Steve Thompson, 17 Paul Doran-Jones, 18 Courtney Lawes, 19 Joe Worsley, 20 Danny Care, 21 Andy Goode, 22 Ayoola Erinle
