Wallaby injury woes worsen

After a ferocious game against South Africa the Wallabies have been left licking their wounds.

Full back Berrick Barnes spent the night in hospital after suffering a punctured lung in the 31-8 defeat in Pretoria, where the British & Irish Lions were forced to pay the price of their bruising encounter with the Springboks in the second Test in 2009.

Barnes will remain in Johannesburg for the next few days. Adam Ashley-Cooper was knocked out cold in a tackle and is heading home to Australia. There are three other casualties – Radike Samo (shoulder), Tatatfu Polota-Nau (neck) and Digby Ioane (knee) – who will travel to Argentina.

Queensland Reds back Luke Morahan and Melbourne Rebels lock Cadeyrn Neville will fly to Rosario to join the squad. The Wallabies finished with 14 men after using up all their allowable replacements in a game which saw them lose five men through injury.
