The Lions will kick-off their 125th anniversary tour against the Barbarians at the Hong Kong Stadium. It will be the first time the Lions have played in Hong Kong, and their second game against the Baa-Baas. The two sides met at Twickenham on 10 September, 1977, to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee. The 2013 Lions tour manager, Andy Irvine, played for the Lions in their 23-14 win.

The Lions have played in Perth four times before and never lost, but this will be the first time they have faced a Super Rugby side there. In 2001 they rattled up their biggest score in beating a Western Australia XV 116-10 at the WACA. In 1989 it was 44-0 to the Lions against Western Australia, 60-3 in 1966 and 71-3 in 1930.

Queensland Reds were Super Rugby champions in 2011 and reached the knock-out stages in 2012. They beat the Lions in the opening game of their 1971 tour and have won 2 of the 13 games to date against the tourists - 11-3 in 1899 and 15-11 in 1971. This will be the first of two fixtures for the Lions at Suncorp. They return for the 1st Test on 22 June.

The Lions first played in Newcastle on 29 August, 1888, when they beat Northern Districts 14-7. Since then they have played a further five times in Newcastle, losing there 17-12 to NSW in 1950. The last Lions fixture here was in 1989, when the tourists beat NSW Country 72-13. The Combined XV will comprise players from around the two Super Rugby franchises. In 1904, Denys Dobson became the first Lion to be sent off when he was dismissed for questioning a refereeing decision in a 17-3 win over Northern Districts.

New South Wales were the first opponents in Australia for the Lions on 2 June, 1888. The Lions were 18-2 and 16-2 winners in the two games on that inaugural tour, but the Waratahs have beaten them four times since - in 1908, 1930, 1950 and 1959. The Lions were 41-24 victors in the last meeting at the Sydney Football Stadium in 2001. Former Leinster and Stade Francais coach Michael Cheika is the new coach of a Waratahs team boasting 13 members of the Wallaby training squad for the Lions tour.

The Lions' final dress-rehearsal before the Test series starts is in the Australian capital. The Lions first game in Canberra was in 1950, when they beat NSW Country 47-3. They beat the same side 6-3 in 1966 and Australian Capital Territory 41-25 in 1989. In 2012 an 82nd minute try by Austin Healey, converted off the touchline by Matt Dawson, gave the Lions a 30-28 win at Bruce Stadium, since re-named Canberra Stadium.

The Lions debut in Melbourne came at the East Melbourne Cricket Ground on 1 August, 1888 when they beat Victoria 9-3. The 1899 and 1930 Lions also beat Victoria in Melbourne and the 2nd Test in 2001 was played under the roof of the Colonial Stadium. This will be the Lions' first game against the Melbourne Rebels, the latest Australian Super Rugby franchise.

The stage for the 2000 Olympic Games, the ANZ Stadium hosted the series decider between the Wallabies and Lions in 2001. It was known as Stadium Australia then and had the biggest official attendance for any Lions match of 84,188 inside as John Eales' Wallabies won the Tom Richards Trophy with a 29-23 victory - their first series win over the Lions.
